SCI's primary goal for achieving net zero emissions is to reduce CO2 emissions from refrigerant processes and activities. Smart GHG; A mobile application, was developed to allow us to monitor the entire loop of refrigerant utilization for faster operation and greater management.
As a Greener Solution Provider, SCI commits to conducting business while caring about the environment. We also share an environmental target with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (MELCO) to achieve net zero emissions in 2050 and ensure the natural sustainability of our global society.
CO2, one of the major causes of climate change, is our primary focus in reducing and minimizing emissions. We first studied processes and activities that are considered to contribute the most to CO2 emissions, and we discovered that they were all related to refrigerants. We also expect that the quantity and variety of refrigerants in our operations will increase in response to customer demand and requirements. Following that, SCI developed the "Smart GHG" digital monitoring system to assist us in improving the efficiency of refrigerant management.
Smart GHG is a mobile application that monitors a complete loop of all refrigerant processes and activities in our operations. It features data recording for the requisition, use, reuse, leakage, recovery for detoxification, and so on. All data is displayed in real time on a monitoring dashboard and is accessible at any time and from any location.
Our significant move to decrease CO2 emissions begins with operational improvement. The real-time data allows us to manage use and reuse, deal with leakage, and recover refrigerants more effectively and quickly. The application also assists us in tracing refrigerant activities, resulting in a more concise plan for improving and managing refrigeration utilization in the factory.
After launching the application, we reduced CO2 emissions by 70% higher than the total for 2021, while increasing refrigerant recovery by more than 90%, despite using more refrigerants.
This is a step toward achieving net zero emission we have made. Complying with MELCO's environmental policy and caring for the needs of the world will be a direction for us in doing business and saving the environment.
